Dear parents,
This afternoon, my personal phone was stolen in a distraction theft while I was at a restaurant in central London. A woman approached our table and, during the brief interaction, managed to take the phone from my bag without me realising. I noticed it was missing within a minute, and the phone was shut down by O2 within 15 minutes of the incident.
The device was protected with a strong passcode, has been barred by the network provider, and a remote wipe has been requested. The police are involved in the matter. I do not believe any student data has been compromised, so there is no current cause for concern regarding data security or regulatory involvement. However, I feel it’s important to keep you informed.
Please be especially cautious of any messages, calls, or texts that appear to come from me but seem unusual or out of character. Both SIM cards were linked to iCloud, and although my tutoring SIM will be reissued shortly, there is a small chance the old one could still send and receive network communications in the meantime.
Importantly, please do not send any payments to my Revolut account until I confirm it is secure again. I am currently unable to access it and am working with their team to regain full control.
I remain fully in control of:
- The LMS
- TutorBird (including the Pay Online button)
- WhatsApp (ending in 5456)
- This email account
Anything else should be treated with caution until I have completed all necessary security checks with the relevant providers. Thank you for your understanding, and I’ll provide an update as soon as everything is resolved.
Best regards,
